Congregational guidelines for in church worship

COVID-19 stage 3 operations

Effective 5/31/2020

Thank you for following these guidelines so we can provide a safe environment for all who wish to worship with us.

  • Process for entering and exiting the church building and sanctuary:

  • Masks shall be worn when entering/exiting the building and should not be removed until seated in the sanctuary. Please have your mask in place if leaving your seat.

  • When entering the building please sanitize hands at the table. A greeter will dispense the sanitizer.

  • Please follow social distancing guidelines while in the church building.

  • Entry and exit to the sanctuary are one directional to aid in social distancing.

  • The entry doors will be propped open before church and exit doors after.

  • Please use the appropriate door when entering/exiting.

  • Please take a pre-bagged communion package. The baskets are labeled with the quantity of each bag.

  • For convenience, you may place your offering in the basket by the sanctuary door as you enter or exit.

Please note the remainder of the church building beyond the entryway, bathrooms and sanctuary is closed. Please do not access other parts of the church.

At this time our nursery remains closed.

Finally, as part of operations of the new Safety Board policies, the front door will be locked at 15 minutes after beginning of service. If you arrive after that time a safety team member will need to grant access to the building. They will be stationed at the main entry and sanctuary entry during services going forward.

A note from the Board of Stewardship:

These are uncertain times. COVID-19 is causing schools, government offices, and businesses (except those selling toilet paper) to curb, postpone, delay, cancel, or stop normal operations. It seems the only things that COVID-19 hasn’t stopped are our physical and spiritual needs. Just as we have physical and spiritual needs, so does our church. We need to continue ministering to the needs of our members, we need to continue our outreach programs, and we need to continue sharing the Gospel.

None of these goals could be accomplished without the steady giving that our members so generously share. Thank you. We are temporarily worshiping by viewing service online. While we are glad that this option is available, it will likely result in reduced offerings. Whenever you are unable to worship in-person, we ask that you please consider making an online donation at or sign up for Simply Giving. Simply Giving is a program that transfers funds to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church from your bank account in the amount you choose, at intervals you choose, and can be changed or stopped when you choose (if you call the office we can walk you through it). One other way would be to just mail an old-fashioned check to the office (501 E. Bogard Rd., Wasilla, AK 99654). Please prayerfully consider this request and please take are of one another.
