WELCA Holiday Market

Saturday October 12th 10:00am-4:00pm will be the WELCA “Holiday Market”

There will be vendors, Good Shepherd Booth, Bake Sale, Silent Auction, Holiday Drawing for a quilt, and two benches.

We are looking for vendors who make their own handmade items, Woodworkers, potters, canned goods, sewing items, etc. Contact Leilani Devries at 352-449-8173, email: villager.gal@gmail.com.

Why do we do this?? The ninth annual Holiday Market is sponsored by Women of the ELCA. We provide an outreach to the community. The community has responded with excellent support and funds raised are usually $4,000-$5,000. Lunch availability at Five Loaves Two Fish Café supports our food for the hungry program. Our vendors are top quality and the atmosphere for the day is a wonderful experience. This outreach has also brought new members to Good Shepherd because people feel they can part of a special church.

Results: Proceeds have provided Good Shepherd with ongoing enhancements above the usual offerings. We are proud to have helped pay for the playground/pavilion, purchased nursery window coverings, a new Communion Service set, an upstairs kitchen microwave, created a parking lot maintenance fund, paid parking lot sanding each winter, replaced downstairs toilets, replaced according wall at conference area, installed grab bars in all toilet stalls, two new vacuum cleaners, professional framing of historical altar cloths, summer flowers for church entrance, annually filled 60-90 Christmas stockings for Food Pantry, and many other items.

How Does This Happen? Many helpers are needed to make this happen. Beginning at age 12, members of our church can participate in some way. Men and women are needed to prepare for the vendors, and afterwards put all the furnishing back in order for worship the following day. There are all levels of jobs such as greeting patrons, servers in the café, pickup borrowed tables, placing signs on Bogard Road, taking a turn at the Good Shepherd booth, selling raffle tickets, and more. The sign-up sheet for jobs is posted in the Narthex on the white board. Any help is appreciated.

What Do We Need? The Good Shepherd Booth sells new or newly items. Please bring to the church, downstairs in Hanson Hall on the stage by Thursday, October 10.

The Bake Sale needs baked single items like cookies, bars, or cupcakes packaged as singles or 6 to 12 to a pack. If gluten free, please mark. Michael’s sells cute package baggies. Cakes and pies are not big sellers. Bring to church Friday, Oct. 11, 2-5 pm, or Sat. Oct. 12, 7-10 am.
